What were the key events of the decade?

The decade was defined by 2 events that occurred seven years and a few blocks apart.

The attacks on the World Trade Center in New York & on the Pentagon on 11 September 2001, killed nearly 3,000 people and directly affected many more. They also led to a chain of events that altered the lives of hundreds of thousands in Afghanistan and Iraq, Bali and Madrid, London and Mumbai, the capturing of Saddam Hussein and other events throughout the world. It also shed more light on how evil and sinister the Palestinian mob was that killed the 2 Israeli Soldiers & Ramallah police station in 2000.

The collapse of Lehman Brothers on 15 September 2008 showed just how serious the financial crisis was, and symbolised the precarious nature of the economics that had underpinned material prosperity during the Noughties.

That said, the sight of stunned employees carrying away their cardboard boxes didn't encourage us to look any more kindly upon bankers.

But isn't that a very Western perspective? After all, far more people - about 230,000 - died in the Indian Ocean tsunami on 26 December 2004 than perished on 9/11. But then again they weren't murdered by terrorist they died from a natural disaster. When talking about disasters should we forget about Hurrican Katrina?

Do we in the West disregard that catastrophe, and Cyclone Nargis in Burma, the Bam earthquake in Iran and the earthquakes in china because they didn't happen in the US?

Depending where you are in the world, did the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan have more impact on your life, or East Timor finally achieving independence? Cyprus joining the EU, or the retirement of Fidel Castro in Cuba?

Maybe you ignored politics altogether, and the big news event of the decade was Lance Armstrong winning his seventh Tour de France, the Led Zeppelin reunion, the end of Concorde, The miracle landing on the Hudson River or the arrival of the final Harry Potter book?

The overdose of Michael Jackson which led to his death transcended geography, culture and age, although the compulsively weird spectacle of his funeral was a real only-in-America moment.

To identify the really big stories, we have to consider not just the interest they generated, but how much real impact they had on people's lives; although in some cases the jury will still be out as we enter 2010.

Debate continues to rage over whether global warming is the single biggest threat to life on earth, or whether the Copenhagen Climate Summit will turn out to be a lot of fuss over nothing.

It may be too early to say whether the stuttering launch of the Large Hadron Collider or the election of President Obama will turn out to be false dawns. By contrast, the election of George W Bush eight years before was more like a false start; the closeness of the Florida vote - the so-called "hanging chads" controversy - delayed the final decision for weeks.

The same fears were raised about the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, but it lived up to expectations, and not only as a sporting spectacle performed by Michael Phelp's 8 Gold Medals; the event showed the extent to which China had been welcomed as a truly global power, with an economic heft that outweighed the private qualms that many governments had about its human rights record.

But I've got a hunch that one of the really big stories of the decade went all but unreported at the time.

The launch of Wikipedia, on 15 January 2001 represented a fundamental shift in the hierarchy of information. Or what about Google in 2000 becoming the default search behind Yahoo & introducing adwords which took google to one of the most powerful companies on the planet.

Along with Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, blogs and the other manifestation of Web 2.0, it meant that the final judgment as to what was significant would never again be left to a self-appointed elite of media professionals & let us not forget the iPhone which changed how we interact with the world from our phone.

If i was James Bond i too would have ditched my BMW years ago, yes it was cool to have the 7 series that was able to be remote controled, but we all remember the Aston Martin "Vanish". A few years went by, and our beloved James Bond moved on and we got a horrible replacement with blond hair and blue eyes that makes me think he is a top secret German spy. The good news is that even though this faker says his name is bond he still drives an Aston Martin. Now just in case your normal, standard-issue Aston Martin isn't cool enough for you, there's the Aston Martin Carbon Black Special Editions ($TBA). The company's DBS and V12 Vantage will both get the carbon black treatment which includes a metallic black finish that's meant to offer a different look in different conditions. The Carbon Fiber is thinner lighter and stronger than normal steel, also used on many jets. Carbon fiber-and-Kevlar seats covered in black leather with silver stitching, anodized black tread plates, piano black dashboards and center consoles, and more. Now if only we can get a normal Bond with an English accent.

(Yes, I know how to get to work.) Hold the phone to your ear and speak, or press the mic button—simple."

"Speaking of directions (ha), looking for a coffee shop nearby? Bing automatically finds your location," adds Jed. "It's also easy to discover a new spot by category such as restaurants, banks, theaters and choose whether you want walking or driving directions."

The infinite scrolling of Bing's image search is said to translate well to the iPhones's interface. There are apparently a lot more features that Microsoft isn't going into detail about, as they would rather have you just download the iPhone app and find them for yourself.

Beware: 3 problems.

iPhone 4G : Say hello to iChat

It seems like all it takes is one tweet to drive everybody crazy nowadays. But I guess that, of course, getting excited around the next-gen iPhone is actually quite understandable.
Today’s tweeting culprit is Eldar Murtazin, the editor in chief of Mobile Review, who posted on his twitter last night that:
"Foxconn received order for next-generation iPhone"
This provoked quite some buzz today and everybody is, once again, speculating about what Apple could be cooking up for us.
I admit this might not sound like much at first, however Murtazin is believed to be a reliable source, thanks to his connections in the industry. Furthermore iPhones normally hit the market around June so it wouldn’t be surprising if Apple, after testing it for a while now, would be already starting production.
Well, for whatever it’s worth, this is a little reassurance that what I’ve been saying for a while now, that there will be a new iPhone in 2010, is looking more and more certain.

Essentially an elongated version of the Porsche 911, the new 2010 Porsche Panamera. The new Panamera is definitely an innovative move for Porsche; with this new front-engine, 4-door sedan, Porsche will join the luxury/super car markets.
The Mercedes-Benz CLS, or the Maserati 4 door are amongs the competition for the Porsche Panamera.
The Panamera’s base model starting at $127,000, vs. The Mercedes-Benz CLS550’s cool $69,825 price tag.
The Panamera S offers 4.8-L naturally aspirated V8 engine, 400-hp, and an acceleration rate of 0-60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.
The CLS550 matches the Panamera S’s efforts with a 5.5-liter V8 engine and 7-sp automatic transmission, but is ultimately out-performed with its 382-hp.

The most immediately obvious differentiating feature between the two models is the 100k price tag difference with the CLS 63 AMG offered at $95,425 and the Panamera Turbo rounding out at a whopping $198,000. Although the Panamera Turbo is smaller, lighter, and definitely packs a punch with a powerful twin-turbocharged 520-hp engine, the CLS 63 AMG doesn’t lag very far behind with its 6.3L V8 and 507-hp. For that kind of money, the Panamera Turbo doesn’t appear to have the kind of competitive edge over the CLS 63 AMG one would expect.

I feel like this program is like an iphone ad... Imagine your on your web browser and you see a fantastic idea for your house theres a plugin for that. Imagine your on your iphone and what to take a note of the architecture your seeing theres a app for that. Imagine you jotted some notes on a napkin and you want to input that into your Journal theres a feature for that. Imagine you want to access your notes from your blackberry theres an app from that. Imagine you want to access your notes from your PC at home there's an app for that. Wanna take a quick note with your isight theres a feature for that. In short Evernote is the MOST powerfull notetaking program i have ever used in my life. I used to love google notebook but it is set to the web browser only. Evernote takes it to ALL mobile phones ALL computers and its an App not a Web site which makes everyone feel great. Easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere.

Perhaps you have been sitting on a bus, or heard a song on the radio and had that Eureka moment, when you realize, yes you, can improve a song, and even, make a new one by mixing it with another. The whole thing revolves around “visual mixing” which involves a lot of tapping and sliding, but with a bit of practice the following effects can be achieved:

Equalization
Effects and pitching

Though you will not get the same results from hi-tech DJ Equipment, you can carry it in your pocket, is considerably cheaper, and if you are truly rubbish at it, you will not have wasted immense amounts of money. It is also more portable than a drum kit.

The flaw with the App, is that you can not import songs from your iTunes library straight into it, but instead, you have to reload them into the App’s library, which seems a little daft. Also the fact that you can't hear the next song your going to mix since your headphone jack is being used as the main output.

Still, for a bit of mixing fun, or indeed a new single, the Touch DJ Program App is both unique and appealing in equal measure.
Traditionally iPhone and iPod Touch have only one stereo audio output which broadens the possibility of using them as a DJ device. Touch DJ overcomes this limitation by offering innovative and unique way of deejaying which doesn't require additional headphones for prelistening to the tracks. This technology is called "visual mixing" and it implies the graphic display of the track waveforms next to each other. Any man feels a need to have a well stocked bar, Me included so I Recently purchased alot of liquor. I bought Vodka, Gin, Amaretto, Rum, Scotch, Martini Mixes, Lime Juice, Grenadine, Kalhua & Sweet & Sour Mix. Vestax has introduced the Spin, a DJ music mixer for the Mac. It measures in at 14 inches x 9.5 inches x 1.5 inches and weighs just 3.2 lbs, so you won’t throw your back out lugging it from gig to gig. It’s a combination of a DJ control surface, an audio interface and DJ software.

The device connects to your MacBook or MacBook Pro via the USB port and lets you select songs from your iTunes library. The Spin will be available in Japan this December for 30,000 Yen or about $330.

1 of the main reasons Apple didn't release the iTablet is because the goal was NOT to have an OS like the Itouch, but rather the full OS. This was only possible after Snow Leopard arrived with a smaller footprint. You could only imagine that apple will make this very thin, light, powerful, fast and the most important thing is a very good response to touch. In till now Apple is probably the ONLY Touch based device that actually responds! I recall when HTC came out with some "competitors" against the iphone - what a joke!
